OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2010. Production of canned fruit and vegetables in Moldova in nine months of 2010 increased by 5.1% in comparison with the same period last year to total 519 million leis (USD 44.7 million).

According to the National Statistics Office’s data, particularly, production of fruit and vegetable juices for nine months of 2010 increased by 5.3% - to 15,200 tones, production of canned vegetables – by 15.7%, to 24,500 tones, production of canned fruit reduced by 6.3% - to 2,600 tones.

Moldova’s tinned food factories export over 90% of the total volume of production. Russia is traditionally the largest consumer of Moldovan canned production.
