OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2010. 292,3 thousand decaliters of cognac were produced in Moldova in January-September 2010, up 4.2 percent against the same period last year. Production of natural grape wine in Moldova was also increased by 6.9% in this period, - to 6.276 million decaliters, production of sparkling wine – by 4.5% - to 278.2 thousand decaliters, according to the National Statistics Office’s data.

In value terms, wine production in Moldova increased by 15% for nine months of 2010 in comparison with the same period of 2009 – to 1.001.2 billion leis (USD 86.3 million).

Wine production made up 6.9% of the total volume of industrial production in the reported period. Production of distilled alcoholic drinks increased by 15.3% in value terms in January-September 2010, totaling 335.4 million leis (USD 28.4 million) or 2.7% of the total industrial production volume.
