Two Incidents Took Place at Mazeikiai Refinery
OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2010. Two incidents took place at Mazeikiai Refinery on Monday evening, reported the press-centre of Mazeikiai Refinery.
At about 6 p.m., after a gas chromatograph used for LPG analyses broke down at one of the laboratories of the Company’s QA/QC Center, a laboratory assistant suffered minor injuries.Upon first medical aid administrated, the casualty was taken over to Mazeikiai Town Hospital.Her state is stable and under close observation.
Meanwhile, at about 8 p.m., upon product leaked at Kerosene Hydrotreatment Unit, its vapour got ignited. The Company employees closed the valves to shut off the supply to metering instruments and eliminated the leak; whereas, fire-fighters extinguished the burning kerosene. Nobody was injured; operation of the Unit was not interrupted.
Prompt and efficient response of the Company employees and fire-fighters to the incident proved their preparedness for elimination of emergency consequences in an effective manner.
