Chisinau and IMF Signed USD 10 mn Loan Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2010. The IFC Director for Middle East, North Africa and Southern Europe Dimitris Tsitsiragos said the respective investment would improve access to basic water and wastewater infrastructure to some 100,000 people living in the central and suburban areas of the capital of Moldova.
A substantial portion of the population of Chisinau will benefit from reduced service interruption and improved roads in the city. According to the draft contract, a number of water-supply and sewerage networks of Chisinau including in the suburban populated localities will be rehabilitated. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said the matter concerns 11 projects in the field of water-supply and 16 – in the field of sewerage in suburbs, as well as 3 main gas pipelines and 8 sewerage projects in the city.
The works will be carried out in 2011. The money will be repaid for 10 years with the 2-year grace period. The interest rate amounts to 4.65%.
