Nevsky Shipyard Launches Salvage Vessel on November 23, 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2010. Nevsky Shipyard LLC will launch on November 23, 2010 of the 4 MW Spasatel (Rescuer) Karev, the first ship in a series of Project MPSV07 multipurpose salvage vessels, under the state shipbuilding contract, the company’s press release said. The salvage ship was named after a died Russian rescuer. His widow, Nelly Kareva and his daughter Eleva Kareva are expected to take part in the official launching ceremony.
The state customer of the vessel is the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency, the customer is The Direction of State Contractor of Marine Transport Development Program. The project ship was designed by Bureau is Marine Engineering Bureau-Design-SPb, JSC.
Ship specifications: LOA - 73,0 m, DWL breadth - 15,5 m, Draft, max. - 5,1 m Deadweight at maximum draft - 1171 ton, Maximum capacity (not less) - 2х2000 KW, Maximum speed - 15 knots. The vessel was constructed to the class of Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping: КМ Arc 5 1 AUT1-ICS OMBO FF3WS DYNPOS-2 EPP Salvage ship.
The newbuilding order is funded through the sub-program “Marine Transport”, part of federal target program “Development of transport system of Russia” (2010-2015). The orders for two more vessels of the same type, the Spasatel Kavdejkin, the Spasatel Zaborshchikov placed at Nevsky Shipyard, are also funded through the program.
After completion, the Spasatel Karev is to be delivered to FSI “Gosmorspassluzhba of Russia” in order to provide salvage and rescue readiness for such purposes as assistance to vessels in distress, search and rescue of people, liquidation of consequences of accidents at sea in established search and rescue areas of Russian Federation.
Nevsky Shipyard LLC, a subsidiary of JSC North-Western Shipping Company (part of UCL Holding), is located 40 km from Saint-Petersburg in Schlusselburg on the left bank of the Neva River. Nevsky Shipyard is one of the oldest enterprises of water transport of Russia’s the North-West. The company has been engaged in shipbuilding since 1952. NS builds sea-going and river vessels of various types and purposes and provides all kinds of ship repair. Nevsky Shipyard’s slipway allows launching and lifting for repair 140-m-long vessels with dock weight up to 2500 tons.
