OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2010. Ingosstrakh paid 100,000 USD in connection with fertilizers cargo damage in Port Klang (Malaysia) on board the Atol vessel.

On August 28, 2000 during unshipping of fertilizers from the Atol motor vessel in Port Klang the cargo was found damaged (wet). The shipowner’s liability was insured by Ingosstrakh. The original consignee’s claim to the shipowner amounted to 487,510 USD. To avoid the vessel’s arrest Ingosstrakh issued a letter of guaranty for the claim amount.

After lengthy talks with the participation of the appointed lawyers and the insurer’s correspondents, the original claim amount was considerably decreased. The final amount of the amicable settlement made 100,000 USD. At the shipowner’s request Ingosstrakh paid the insurance indemnity directly to the claimant.
