Tallinn Port’s Ten-Month Throughput up 16.9% to 30.2 mln Tons
OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2010. Freight flows through the port of Tallinn (Estonia) for the 10 month period of this year totaled 30,245,400 tons, 16.9 percent up from the results of last year, the Tallinn Port Authority statistics said.
Ten-month container traffic increased by 16% to 126,920 TEUs.
In Jan-Oct, the port’s terminals handled 21,010,100 tons of liquid bulk (a 10.8% gain vs last year’s figures), 4,743,600 tons of bulk cargo (plus38.6%) 2,934,700 tons of RO-RO cargo (plus32.5%).
The number of arrivals and departures of ships in the reporting period remained unchanged y-o-y, at 6,126 calls.
Port of Tallinn is ranked the third largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg and Primorsk, on the Baltic Sea. The Port consists of five so-called port areas: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2009, cargo throughput of Tallinn seaport was 31.597.000 tons.
