Sales Volume of Mobile Operators Increased by 14,5% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2010. As it was informed in the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), the average monthly revenue per 1 user (ARPU) increased since the beginning of 2010 by 4,36%, totaling to 105,1 lei (USD 9,1) in the IIIrd quarter. According to the Agency, these results indicate withdrawal of mobile telecommunication from recession of 2009 and return to the growth of previous years.
Strengthening of positions of mobile telecommunication market in Moldova results, mainly, from the increase of sales volume of Orange Moldova and Moldcell. Thus, sales of Orange Moldova increased in January-September 2010 by about 16%, Moldcell – by 19,5%, while of Moldtelecom reduced by 13,8%. ANRCETI calls the increase of users number as one of the main factors of mobile operators’ revenue growth.
Thus, in January-September 2010 total number of mobile telecommunication users in Moldova increased by 9% and reached 2 million 958,8 thousand, and the mobile penetration per 100 citizens increased by 4,6 pp and reached 83%. The number of Internet via 3G users, consuming not less than 1 MB of traffic, has also increased considerably since the beginning of the year by 32,6% and as of October 1, 2010 amounted to 105,9 thousand.
In the accounting period the market of mobile telecommunication comprised 3 operators: Orange Moldova, Moldcell and Moldtelecom (Unite). The largest market share on the volume of sales belongs to Orange Moldova – 73,03%. The share of the companies Moldcell and Moldtelecom accounts to 24,59% and 2,37%, respectively. The fourth mobile operator – Eventis Mobile – doesn’t work since the beginning of 2010 because of bankruptcy.
