OREANDA-NEWS. November 11, 2010. Freight volume handled at the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region) in January-October 2010 rose by 19% vs last year’s figures, to 9,766,000  tons, the Ust-Luga Company’s press service said. In ten recent months the port’s operators transshipped 48,114 vehicles.

In October stevedoring companies of Ust-Luga port handled 1,374,000 tons of cargo, a 52.4-percent surge from September’s volume. There were 66 calls at the port in October, or 15,8% up month-on-month. The number of imported autos rose to 11,782 units.

Ust-Luga port is located on Russia’s border with the EU. Owner / developer of the port is JSC Ust-Luga Company. The boundaries of Ust-Luga port were established by the Russ. Govt. decree on May 20, 2009. Last year the port handled 10,300,000 tons of cargo and 17,000 imported cars. There were 1,031 calls at the port (517 arrivals, 514 departures).
