OREANDA-NEWS. November 10, 2010. OJSC MMK and Russian branch of LG Corporation (LG Electronics RUS LLC) took a decision on trial supply to LG of the galvanized and color coated flat products produced by MMK.

The negotiations resulted in successful solving of a number of technical issues relating to provision of the necessary surface quality of the galvanized flat products. The parties also discussed the details of working-out and introduction of the bilateral norms and regulations for rolled products to be supplied to LG.

In the course of negotiations the parties touched upon the issues of acceptance of the new types of products, in particular, rolled products with decorative film coating and certification of MMK’s products by SGS (limitation of harmful substances).

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works actively expands the production of coated rolled products, including color coated products for white goods manufacturers.

The year of 2004 saw the commissioning in MMK’s Coating Shop of the first Color Coating Line (CCL) supplied by Austrian VAI, the second similar facility (CCL No 2) supplied by FATA HUNTER (Italy) was put on stream in 2009. Upon commissioning of CCL No 2 the capacities for production of color coated products increased to 400 thousand tpy. The equipment of the new facility includes hot and cold laminators and provides for the possibility of manufacturing products with texturized polymer coating. The design of the furnace of the new CCL also guarantees manufacture of products for white goods – refrigerators, washing machines, etc.
