OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2010. The second reactor of Hydrocracker was installed in OJSC TANECO, and a few days before OOO SOPiG specialists had installed the first vessel on the foundation. This became an important event for the whole oil refining industry of Russia, because the installation of the equipment with weight of more than 1200 tons was performed for the first time ever.

The reactors were considered to be unique ones at the stage of manufacture, which was performed by the company “Objedinenniye mashinostroitelniye zavody” (Group Uralmash-Izhora). The same word – “unique” – can be referred to their transportation to TANECO, because the delivery of the process equipment of 37,5 m length, 5,18 m diameter and more than 1200 tons weight had required the non-standard decision. And, by unanimous opinion of almost all oil refineries representatives, who witnessed the erection of the reactors, the operation was unique, because it offers the challenge for the oil refinery development. The matter is that the new reactors are more efficient than their predecessors, and, accordingly, they possess the better key performance indicators, and this is an important factor at the market competition.

Two cranes “Liebherr” with lifting power 750 tons were used for the erection, as well as auxiliary special devices, 15 erectors and machine operators of SOPiG were employed. The huge preliminary work had been performed before erection of the equipment, because the equipment had been delivered 56 % turned around its longitudinal axis, what was necessary for the transportation. In TANECO, at the specially prepared site with higher bearing capacity, the reactors were turned and then installed into the swiveling devices. Then, the specialists started the preparation of all the rigging for erection, i.e. assembly and testing of the brake system, strapping of the reactor and teaching of the personnel. As Mr.Viktor Shogorov, OOO SOPiG Technical Director said, the personnel had been taught properly, that’s why the installation of the bulky equipment was performed the right way.


Mr. Ivan Demyanov, OJSC TANECO Deputy of Construction Director, appreciated the installation of the reactors as the new milestone, because the “heart” of the future hydrocracking process was installed. The unit will enable to increase the oil refining depth at the Oil Refining and Petrochemical Complex, and to produce the additional quantity of kerosene and diesel fuel of European quality from vacuum gas oil at CDU-VDU.
