Aeroexpress Passenger Traffic Increased 54% over 9 Months of 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2010. Aeroexpress transported 7,362,000 passengers to and from Moscow airports over the first 9 months of 2010. This is a 54% increase year-on-year for the period. Furthermore, the company’s market share of total passenger traffic to and from Moscow airports increased by 3.5% and equaled 19%.
A total of 1,033,000 passengers used Aeroexpress services in the month of September, which is a 42% increase year-on-year. Moreover, 99.5% of all Aeroexpress trains ran on time.
Aeroexpress’ largest growth rate for the first three quarters of the year came on the Moscow city center-Sheremetyevo Airport route. About 2,499,000 passengers used Aeroexpress services on this route over the first 9 months of 2010 (growth of 173%). Aeroexpress trains took about 1,278,000 passengers to Vnukovo Airport and back (growth of 49%). The company transported 3,585,000 people on the Paveletsky Train Station-Domodedovo Airport route, which was a 20% increase over the previous year.
During the peak of the summer vacation season Aeroexpress became the only reliable and guaranteed on-time way for passengers to get to Sheremetyevo Airport and back due to the car transportation collapse on Leningradskoe Shosse, the main road from Moscow city center to Sheremetyevo Airport.
Commenting on Aeroexpress’ business results for the first 9 months of 2010, Alexey Krivoruchko, the company’s general director, noted: “The secret of our company’s successful growth has been to build a modern system for marketing passenger transportation while constantly improving the quality of the services we provide. Furthermore, we are actively developing our distribution chain for ticket sales and are implementing innovational technologies in the field of sales automation, control and assessment of passenger transportation, while also ensuring our passengers’ safety,” Krivoruchko added.
