Ukraine and Russia to Create Working Group to Review Gas Contracts
OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2010. Ukraine and Russia agreed to establish a special working group to examine revision of Ukrainian-Russian gas agreements concluded by the previous government in 2009. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and the Head of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin agreed on that during the 7th meeting of the Committee on economic cooperation of Ukrainian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission, in Kiev - the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at "Exam for authority" at the First National Channel.
"The President of the Russian Government agreed to establish a working group, and this working group will be created. We talked with him what specifically in the contract does not suit us. I said that it is unequal. That is why we should review it" - Mykola Azarov said.
The Prime Minister also said that the price for Russian natural gas in the first quarter of 2011 will reach 230-235 dollars per thousand cubic meters. "We got an idea of what would be the price of gas in the first quarter of next year: it is estimated to be 230-235 dollars for 1 thousand cubic meters. Thus Mykola Azarov said that in general the price in the first quarter is satisfactory for Ukraine: "The first quarter is always quite heavy, and so the price for the first quarter for us, in fact, is satisfactory."
