Russia and Ukraine Ink Memorandum of Cooperation in Shipbuilding
OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2010. The Russian Government and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine signed yesterday in Kiev a Memorandum on cooperation in the field of shipbuilding after the Russian-Ukrainian talks in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov, Russian government press service reported.
According to the press service of the Government of Ukraine, the document was signed by the Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine Dmitry Kolesnikov and Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
"We have agreed on the modernization of the entire complex of economic and trade relations and a number of important programs and projects in such key areas as nuclear energy, oil and gas industry, space industry, aviation, shipbuilding, transport, agriculture, power engineering, etc.", Nikolai Azarov was quoted as saying.
In April this year, Ukraine and Russia discussed the possibility of cooperation in the sphere of shipbuilding. The head of United Shipbuilding Corporation, Roman Trotsenko said the two countries projected to establish a shipbuilding cluster, considering the inclusion in the USC a Research and Production Centre of gas and turbine plant Zarya-Mashproekt (Nikolaev) and JSC “Feodosia company "Sea".
