RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2010. Over the week of October 18-22, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 1.70% to reach 1,608.71 points (1,581.90 points as of October 15, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 23.61 points) followed by ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 9.10 points) and JSC VTB Bank (VTBRS) (plus 4.66 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 2.72% to reach 10,454.00 points (10,177.17 points as of October 15, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 0.41% closing at 1,988.68 points (1,996.85 points as of October 15, 2010). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the financial sector, with the RTS Finances Index adding 5.80%. The greatest decline was reported by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index shedding 3.39%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 0.20%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 2.67% against the ruble to reach 30.73 rubles per US dollar (29.93 rubles as of October 15, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of October 18-22, 2010 equaled USD12.8 billion (330.1 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD3,067.83 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD2,006.48 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD495.96 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD156.62 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 63.32%, 15.65% and 4.94% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of Sberbank  (SBER) that went up by 10.33% to USD3,365 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "MOESK"  (MSRS) – by 5.18% to USD0.0508 and JSC "Aeroflot"  (AFLT) – by 4.29% to reach USD2.43.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "The Seventh Continent"  (SCON) that fell 8.78% to reach USD8.00 followed by ordinary shares of  ОАО "PROTEK"    (PRTK) that lost 8.63% to reach USD1.8 and "Nizhhnekamskneftekhim" INC  (NKNC) that lost 7.61% to reach USD0.51.
