Turkmenistan Presents New Evidence of Rich Oil Reserves
OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2010. Exploration work conducted by specialists of the Turkmennebit State Concern resulted in discovering new oil pools in the Barsagelmes field in Balkan Velayat. A high oil gusher was discovered in exploratory well 435 at a depth interval of 4,548 to 4,551 metres and 4,563 to 4,566 metres. According to preliminary estimates, the daily oil inflow in the well is 129 tons.
According to the Turkmennebit State Concern, Turkmen specialists carry out the activities aimed at increasing commercial hydrocarbon reserves in accordance with the approved exploration work schedule. Along with the measures taken to estimate gas and oil content in newly discovered deposits in Western Turkmenistan the Turkmennebit State Concern conducts exploration work in deep horizons in the developed deposits.
The discovery of new oil pools in the Barsagelmes field allows specialists to forecast its high potential. The density of the lower geological horizon discovered there will ensure the further increase in production of liquid hydrocarbons. Currently, specialists of the Nebitgazylmytaslama Institute conduct the survey to identify the parameters of geological horizons and their production capacities.
However, even today the Barsagelmes field significantly contributes to oil and gas production in Turkmenistan. Construction of newly discovered oil and gas fields is a priority aspect of the activity of the Turkmennebit State Concern. Turkmen specialists are engaged in exploring about 30 deposits that include over 600 oil, oil-and-gas and gas pools at different stage of reservoir development. The fields recently developed and put on production in this region include Cekisler, Garadurun, Southern Kamyslyja, Nebitlije and others.
