Rosatom Intends to Construct 35 Power Units in 15 Countries
OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2010. The package of Rosatom’s potential contracts for construction of new NPPs abroad contains contracts for erection of 35 power units in 15 countries. That was stated by Deputy Head of Directorate for Rosatom’s Nuclear Power Complex Vyacheslav Korogodin.
According to him intergovernmental agreements on 19 units have already been signed. In particular it refers to such countries as China (4 units), India (4 units), Belorussia (2 units), Armenia (1 unit), the Ukraine (2 units), Vietnam (2 units) and Turkey (4 units).
Moreover Korogodin said that tenders were being held or would be issued soon in such countries as Egypt (3units), Argentina (2 units), Kazakhstan (2 units), Hungary and Czech Republic (2 units each), Slovakia (1 unit), Bangladesh and Jordan (2 units each).
Rosatom is preparing the improved project of a VVER-type power unit (the project is called VVER-TOI); the preparation will be finished in 2012. The new power unit operating life will be 60 years; its construction will take 40–46 months. At this Rosatom intends to reduce total structural volumes by 20%. Operating costs of such an NPP will amount to about 25 kopecks per kWh.
