Khrunichev, Siemens Announced PLM Implementations
OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2010. Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (Khrunichev) announced one of Russia’s largest PLM implementations, to help Khrunichev boost the production of new and modified products and to save product development and production planning costs, reported the press-centre of Khrunichev.
Under the terms of this agreement, all Khrunichev branches will standardize on Siemens PLM Software’s NX™ software, a leading integrated solution for computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE), Teamcenter® software, the world’s most widely used PLM system, and Tecnomatix® software, the industry’s leading solution for digital manufacturing.
Khrunichev selected Siemens PLM Software following an extensive evaluation process, which included major players in the PLM market, and a successful pilot project at the Salyut Design Bureau and the space rockets production facility.
“We have developed an extensive modernization program and we want to expand the production, so one of the top priorities is a fast deployment of a product lifecycle management system in all our branches,” said Vladimir Ye. Nesterov, General Director, the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center. “The implementation of such a program requires a lot of efforts in production, engineering, and management domains. It is even more so because no PLM projects of this scale and with such a tight schedule have ever been implemented in Russia so far. We believe that together with Siemens PLM Software we will succeed.”
“Siemens PLM Software is pleased that Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center selected our industry-leading technology following an extensive evaluation process which included major players in the PLM market,” said Steffen Buchwald, vice president and managing director, Central and Eastern Europe, Siemens PLM Software. "The selection of Siemens PLM Software by a worldwide leader such as Khrunichev further establishes Siemens PLM Software as a leading provider of PLM solutions to the Aerospace & Defense industry.”
The pilot project, which provided for a development of an integrated solution based on NX and Teamcenter, for product design and production planning included product digital mockup and product structure management, a technical documentation library, part libraries, requirements and change management, an as-built product structure, inter-shop routing management, CAM applications, as part of a broader solution.
This agreement provides enhanced solution scalability and integrated technology to cover other Khrunichev's braches and affiliated companies including Polyet Production Facility (Omsk), the Armatura Design Bureau (Kovrov), the A.M.Isaev Chemical Engineering Design Bureau (Korolev), Khrunichev Telecom (Moscow), the A.A.Maksimov Space Systems Research and Development Institute (Korolev), the Voronezh Mechanical Plant, the KBKhA Design Bureau of Chemical Automatics (Voronezh), and Proton Perm Motors (Perm).
The primary objective is to use NX, Teamcenter and Tecnomatix software for reducing product development and production planning costs along with shortening the period between the start of a project and commissioning. This objective will require design process optimization using digital mockups, concurrent engineering techniques, and providing the development team with real-time access to up-to-date product data. The use of Teamcenter at the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center will control and trace projects, manage product structure, and provide an integrated engineering knowledge and product requirements database.
