OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2010. The town of Rust (Germany) hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Guenther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy.

The parties addressed the basic issues of the Russian-European cooperation in the gas sector. An emphasis was placed on Gazprom’s key gas transmission projects – Nord Stream and South Stream.

Alexey Miller and Guenther Oettinger shared the opinion that Russian natural gas would play a crucial role in ensuring the EU energy balance, while a successful energy partnership of Russia and Europe should be based on the open dialogue and respect for mutual interests.
