OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2010. In Almaty IV International Practical Conference "Problems and Perspectives of Oil Pipeline Transport Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held. The initiators of the conference are the main oil transportation operator of the country JSC “KazTransOil” jointly with LLP “Kazgiproneftetrans”.

To discuss urgent aspects of development of oil transport industry the representatives of JSC “NC “KazMunaiGas”, JSC “KazTransOil”, JSC “Central Dispatcher Board of Oil and Gas Industry”, MOG of RK, JSC “Kazakh Oil and Gas Institute”, representatives of the biggest companies of far and near abroad countries on engineering and construction, producers of equipment and materials for oil pipeline transport, specialists in diagnostics and reliability and safety assurance from USA, Canada, Great Britain, Belgium, Finland, Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine took part in the conference.

The participants of the conference had an opportunity to exchange experience and discuss vital issues on oil pipeline transport, particularly, trends of development of oil pipeline networks, modern technologies of monitoring and diagnostics of main oil pipelines, engineering of oil pipeline networks and sea terminals, elaboration and implementation of new standards of oil pipeline transport and other current issues. As Director of Exploitation Department of JSC “KazTransOil” Sabit Arynov noted in his speech the Company takes measures on technical rearmament, upgrade and reconstruction of its industrial objects. Moreover, during several last years KTO accomplished several large scale projects on implementation and application of new technologies and equipment. The program of technical rearmament of the objects of the Company envisages complex modernization of the objects and switch to qualitatively new level of services rendering on oil transportation. It is miscellaneously sound, including financial and economic view. For today, in the context of technical equipment, JSC “KazTransOil” is highly competitive with anybody, and in some positions outdistances our colleagues.

Today the Company conducts the modernization of oil storage reservoirs, changing steel pontoons for aluminum. Steel pontoons sink under own pressure, becoming ineffective. Aluminum pontoons are more floating. Thus the Company solves 2 problems at once: decrease oil losses, occurring due to evaporation and reduce pollution with oil evaporation.

Specialists of Belgian TD Williamson told about pipeline repair methods without pumping shutdown. The given works, conducted on running pipelines, are aimed at defects elimination, modernization, substrate of damaged areas of the pipeline, substrate of gate valves and other equipment, installed on the pipeline. Using traditional methods require temporary pumping shutdown, in most cases shutting down of big section of pipeline with lowered pressure and pumped out or discarded into the atmosphere transported product is necessary, only in this case safety of welding can be guaranteed. Operations on running pipelines carried out traditionally can not be accomplished in tight terms, expenses on these operations are too high, and that is why the operators of pipelines try to use accessible and safe technologies allowing for escape shutdown.
