Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Increased Turnover in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2010. Within nine months of 2010 the stevedoring companies of the group of “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” handled over 9 mln tons of cargoes. This is by 6% more, than in the same period of the last year.
The growth of the key performance indicators has been determined by the growth of the volumes of export cargoes – in comparison with January-September of 2009 the export cargo flow has increased by 8.5 %.
In particular the volumes of coal have grown by 16% - up to 2.7 mln. tons, handling volumes of pig iron have increased by 32% and amounted to 541 thousand tons. Volumes of ro-ro export cargoes have increased twice – up to 204 thousand tons.
Volumes of import cargo flow have decreased by 7%. Within the period of three quarters handling volumes of general cargoes have decreased, i.e. volumes of reefer cargoes – by 42% - up to 157 thousand tons. Among bulk and loose cargoes the handling volumes of ore have decreased by 18%, up to 405 thousand tons.
First Stevedoring Company handled 3.5 mln. tons of cargoes (+6% in comparison with January-September of 2009). Second Stevedoring Company handled over 1.4 mln. tons of cargoes, having improved the performance indicators for the previous year by 3%.
At the car terminal of Third Stevedoring Company within the first half of 2010 over 7.8 thousand import cars have been handled (within the same period of 2009 handling operations were not performed at the terminal).
Fourth Stevedoring Company has decreased the performance indicators by 15% - up to 2.4 mln. tons of cargoes, due to the construction of the first stage of container terminal on its territory.
Ro-ro terminal of the First Stevedoring Company, put into operation in the II quarter of 2009, handled 495 thousand tons of ro-ro cargoes within the 9 months of 2010.
Multipurpose Reloading Complex in Ust-Luga handled over 1.5 mln. tons of cargoes, having increased the handling volumes almost twice.

The development programme of port infrastructure of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” envisages the construction of specialized container handling facility and development of the newly built ro-ro and car handling facilities on the territory of the Greater port of Saint-Petersburg and development of the Multipurpose Reloading Complex in port of Ust-Luga.
