RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2010. Over the week of October 11-15, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 0.96% to reach 1,581.90 points (1,566.85 points as of October 8, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of OJSC ‘LUKOIL’ (LKOHS) (plus 5.96 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL (GMKNS) (plus 3.29 points) and Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 3.04 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 1.74% to reach 10,177.17 points (10,003.23 points as of October 8, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 0.40% closing at 1,996,85 points (1,988.85 points as of October 8, 2010). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index adding 3.35%. A significant increase was also shown by the consumer and financial sectors, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index and RTS Finances Index going up by 2.72% and 1.51% respectively. The decline was reported only by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index shedding 0.24%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 1.73%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 1.01% against the ruble to reach 29.93 rubles per US dollar (29.63 rubles as of October 8, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of October 11-15, 2010 equaled USD9.5 billion (284.5 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,450.86 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,474.1 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD423.7 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD141.2 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 59.32%, 17.05% and 5.68% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of BashInformSvyaz  (BISV) that went up by 27.52% to USD0.19 followed by preferred shares of Ufaneftekhim  (UFNCP) – by 10.81% to USD2.05 and MDM Bank  (MDMBP) – by 9.64% to reach USD0.455.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of Synergy, Co  (SYNG) that fell 7.05% to reach USD36.25 followed by ordinary shares of  JSC "INTER RAO UES"   (IRAO) that lost 3.77% to reach USD0.00153 and GAZ (GAZA) that lost 3.39% to reach USD28.5.
