OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2010. With a view to improving road traffic patterns and safety, as well as to easing road traffic access to Vnukovo International's forecourt, kindly be advised of the recently altered road traffic pattern in and around the Airport's forecourt area. The new circular traffic pattern will ensure complete segregation of traffic flows thus eliminating unwarranted jamming and backups of same.

All entry to the forecourt is now via the horseshoe-shaped raised highway spanning it and adjoining the facade of the new Terminal A. For the convenience of motorists' picking up or dropping off air travelers with luggage (under 15 minutes' time), 'parking pockets' or spots have been provided to the right of the moving traffic, alongside the passenger terminals' facades. If motorists should have plans  of leaving their cars at the Airport over a longer term, they will find on their left-hand side - as they drive around and along the forecourt -  two multilevel car parks of 350 spaces each. There are further 200 parking spaces on the ramps adjoining the car parks. The construction on the forecourt of another large-capacity multilevel car park has been envisaged. The five-level structure is expected to offer an additional 3500 spaces on top of the Airport's existing capacity.

We wish to remind you that the first 15 minutes of parking on Vnukovo International' forecourt is free of charge.

Vnukovo International Airport offers its air travelers the optimum access infrastructure mix. There are three major thoroughfares - the Kievskoye, the Borovskoye, and the Minskoye Highways - connecting the Airport with the Metropolis. City buses and route taxi vans ply between Vnukovo and Metro Yugo-Zapadnaia (the red line), and terminate just across the forecourt from the Airport's mainline passenger terminals. An all-new horseshoe-shaped raised highway has been built to span the entire forecourt area, running all along the mainline passenger terminals' facades and ensuring complete separation of traffic flows carrying arriving and departing air travelers. The raised highway the total length of which approaches 2,5 kilometers, extends into thoroughfares connecting the Borovskoye and the Kievskoye Highways.
