Rosatom Will Annually Invest RUB 400 mln into MEPhI Development
OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2010. Head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko announced this information to journalists in Moscow.
According to him, the federal budget will additionally contribute to the university the same amount. “It is important that now it is not only a Moscow University, it has branches almost all over the country,” the Head of Rosatom said. “More than 1,000 foreign students will study there in the near future,” he added.
Today MEPhI trains 70 Vietnamese students, 5 Mongolian students and 12 students from Jordan. According to the Head of Rosatom, MEPhI will have a stiff competition with higher educational institutions of France, Japan and the USA, and in prospect – with Chinese and South Korean universities. These countries have ambitious plans, concerning nuclear industry development.
According to S. Kiriyenko, the key competitive advantage in the nuclear sphere is “quality of people, working in the nuclear power industry”. This year Rosatom has employed 1,800 graduates and in the near future this amount will amount to 2,000 graduates and will continue to increase.
Head of Rosobrnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Education and Science) Lyubov Glebova said that at the moment Rosatom and Rosobrnadzor were involved in the joint project concerning the creation of a model of employers’ demands for graduates. According to her, this project has been developing for two years already. L.Glebova expressed hope that in terms of cooperation with future employers its results would become a model for all country’s educational institutions.
Rosatom and Rosobrnadzor signed the agreement on cooperation.
