OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2010. The agreement was signed by General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and Director for Eastern Europe of the European Investment Bank Constantin Synadino. Earlier the City Hall signed the same agreement with the EBRD. Dorin Chirtoaca said that as a result of a tender a number of trolleybuses increased from 90 to 100 trolleybuses.

According to Constantin Synadino, this project is the first one in collaboration with Chisinau, because at first only the collaboration with central Moldavian authorities existed. He is satisfied that the new trolleybuses meet the ecological requirements as well. The total cost of the project on purchasing of new trolleybuses for Chisinau amounts to EUR 13,7 million.

Out of this amount EUR 10 million is a loan, issued by the EBRD and the European Investment Bank, and EUR 3 million – a grant, allocated by EU to Chisinau within the Neighborliness Program. The loan is provided under 5% p.a. for 10 years with 2-year deferment in payment. The municipal authorities believe that the terms of the contract allow the Chisinau City Hall to fulfill the obligations to the European financial structures.
