Prices for Goods Should Be in Leis in Moldova from 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2010. This is stipulated by the Regulation on price indication for goods, proposed for sale to consumers, approved by the government at the meeting.
According to Deputy Premier/Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, the document was elaborated taking into account the better foreign practices and EU recommendations in order to inform the consumers in full and proper way on the prices for products sold to protect their rights and provide the economic interests to facilitate for them the price comparison. The indication of prices exclusively in lei will allow undeceiving the consumers who don’t know current exchange rate.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the implementation of the Regulations will result in small expenditures due to the optimal choice after the comparison of prices, indicated for 1 measured unit. The decisions of the government for trade areas up to 50 sq. meters will come into force from January 1, 2013. Valeriu Lazar specified that the Consumer Rights Protection Agency would follow the observance of the Regulations. The penalty sanctions will be applied for the breach of the rules.
