Special carriages which are used to deliver launchers, satellites and space vehicles to Baikonur will be equipped with GLONASS/GPS in 2011, in the framework of full-scale monitoring system for transportation of critical, hazardous and valuable cargo. It will help to avoid damages of expensive space hardware, General Director of Russian Space Systems company Yury Urlichich said.

He explains that there is no need to install GLONASS on any railway train. However the navigation shall be used to monitor transportation of valuable cargo items. The company available for transportation shall recognize the responsibility for safe delivery of launchers, spacecraft and space vehicles.
