OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2010. Recognising Estonian Air for its activities in the field of design, the aircraft Oskar has been nominated by the Estonian Association of Designers for the European Design Management DME Award 2010, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.

The Estonian Air aircraft adorned with the logo of Tallinn 2011 and unique pattern has also been recognised at the Bruno Design Awards, the Estonia’s most prestigious design awards ceremony held on the last weekend in September, as part of annual Design Festival Design Night.

Oskar, the Estonian Air aircraft, was nominated among the top three in the Best Design Project category and was recognised and praised by the international jury, whose members were Jean Schneider, Lylian Meister, Avril Accolla, Sanna Simola and Simone de Waart.

An exhibition of all of the nominees for Bruno awards is open at the Architecture & Design Gallery until 15 October 2010.

Estonian Air is the official carrier of Tallinn 2011 – European Capital of Culture and will hold this title throughout 2011. As an ambassador of the European Capital of Culture, Oskar will be flying to the majority of Estonian Air’s direct flight destinations. The aircraft adorned with the logo of Tallinn 2011 will carry the message of the European Capital of Culture to millions of people in Estonia and abroad.

Estonians have long been known for their love of creating beauty around them by adorning clothing and other items with national folk patterns. Oskar proudly bears one of these patterns – a unique air pattern which brings together national symbols, aviation and modern expression mode. Estonian Air’s strategic partner in the development of the visual concept for its broad-ranging renewal programme, which includes the design of the Tallinn 2011 aircraft, is the advertising agency Division.
