OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2010. JSC "Aviation Company" Transaero", the second-largest passenger air carrier in Russia, has announced its financial results under International Financial Reporting Standards for the years ended 31 December 2007-2009. The results demonstrate strong and sustainable growth in key performance indicators and a stable financial position of the airline.

Financial Highlights:

Strong revenue growth from 20,410 mln rubles in 2007 to 35,766 mln rubles in 2009

EBITDAR [1] margin [2] of 13% in 2007 and 22% in 2009, reflecting continued growth in EBITDAR to 7,745 mln rubles (up by 195.3% compared to 2007) despite the difficult market environment in 2009

Significant improvement in operating profit to 3,503 mln rubles in 2009, up 6.7 times compared to 2007

Strong cash generation with net cash from operating activities of 1,449 mln rubles in 2009

Operational Highlights:

Traffic volumes increased by 1.55 times over the last three years to 5.026 million passengers in 2009 with 3.967 million carried on international routes and 1.059 within Russia as at end-2009

Passenger turnover grew by 59.3% in the 2007–2009 period to 18.732 billion RPK, including 13.931 billion RPK on international and 4.801 billion RPK on domestic flights

Cargo volumes increased by more than 1.5 times within the three-year period to 29,355 tones

With 40 new flights launched during the period under review, in 2009 Transaero served 87 international and 24 domestic routes

Transaero’s market share in the Russian Federation in terms of passenger turnover up from 10.7% in 2007 to 16.7% in 2009 (According to The Transport Clearing House of Russia)
