Aeroexpress to Install Modern Turnstile Lines at Railroad Stations
OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2010. Aeroexpress has started implementing its project to install modern turnstiles at railroad platforms in the Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo Airports. The new turnstiles are planned to be launched before the end of 2010.
The turnstile lines will become a main part of Aeroexpress’ automated system of sales, control, and record keeping of passenger transportation, and will allow the company to lead operative and reliable statistics on passenger flows on all intermodal train routes, as well as improve the quality of service provided thanks to automation of the control processes. Furthermore, service personnel will be able to focus on serving passengers in the train, and can promptly react to abnormal situations.
Altogether Aeroexpress is planning to install four modern turnstile lines manufactured in Austria in Moscow airports. Furthermore, the old turnstiles in Vnukovo and Domodedovo Airports will be disassembled. Aeroexpress will install two turnstile lines in Sheremetyevo Airport since there are two railway platforms there.
One important advantage of the new turnstile lines is that they are equipped with technology for reading magnetic cards and for scanning bar codes. Thus the new turnstiles will read all types of tickets for Aeroexpress trains, including “ultralite” no-contact smart cards, tickets with bar codes, and promising mobile NFC tickets.
The new turnstiles will work both on arrival (for passengers going from the airport to the center of Moscow), and on departure (for passengers going from the city center to the airport).
Aeroexpress will also install two automatic ticket sales machines at each platform. A passenger who doesn’t have a train ticket upon arriving at the airport can buy the ticket in an automatic ticket machine and use it to leave the platform.
Handicapped passengers in wheelchairs or passengers with large baggage will be able to use separate automated gates.
Installation works on the turnstile lines is planned to be finished in December, 2010. Aeroexpress is investing 24 mln rubles into this project.
