Rostelecom Completes Testing for Network at Investment Forum in Sochi
OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2010. Rostelecom completed the successful testing of its fourth-generation (4G) wireless datacom network which runs on the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) protocol in the Time Duplex (TD) standard in the 2.3 – 2.4 GHz range during the 9th Annual International Investment Forum SOCHI-2010. This is the first time LTE technology has been tested in this frequency range.
The test results showed the capability of the standard, which makes it possible to transmit data at speeds of up to 130 Mbps in a download channel. The testing also revealed the capabilities of the equipment.
The testing process was carried out using the publicly available Internet service Speedtest (www.speedtest.net). The data transmission speed during the testing period significantly exceeded 100 Mbps. The prototypes of subscriber devices (USB terminals) were also unveiled during the testing.
The testing program for Rostelecom’s LTE technology also featured a Forum demo of high definition video streaming (HD TV), as well as state and municipal services that can be received through the uniform portal for state services (www.gosuslugi.ru) using this technology.
