FGC UES Upgrades Substation 330 kV Kolpino
OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2010. JSC FGC UES Branch – Backbone electric grids (MES) of North-West – commenced complex reconstruction of substation 330 kV Kolpino in St-Petersburg. Works are conducted within the investment program of JSC FGC UES. In the result of technical upgrade the substation capacity will be the same while reliability of power supply to Kolpinskiy district of St-Petersburg with over 150,000 residents will be significantly enhanced and it will become possible to connect new customers to the energy system. JSC FGC UES will invest over RUR 1.4 bln in the substation reconstruction.
Two buildings of substation-wide control center will be constructed, outdoor switchgear 330 kV will be extended and two bays 330 kV and four SF6 circuit breakers will be installed; and two out of three autotransformers will be replaced at the substation. Also the equipment of outdoor switchgear 110 kV and indoor switchgear 10 kV will be upgraded, advanced relay protection systems and emergency control will be assembled and two advanced power transformers will be installed of 16 MVA each. Also an automatic process control system will be implemented at the substation enabling remote switching-over in switchgears. Reconstruction of the substation is planned to be completed in 2012.
Substation 330 kV Kolpino with installed capacity of 600 MVA was put into operation in 1982; 18 power transmission lines come off the substation connecting it with substations 110 kV and 330 kV and also with Leningradskaya NPP. Power supply to about 30 large industrial enterprises of St-Petersburg depends on stable operation of the substation including Izhorskiye zavody. Upon reconstruction of the substation it will be able to connect to the energy system of high-voltage electrical equipment plant of LLC Power machines which is currently under construction.
Reconstruction of substation 330 kV Kolpino is stipulated by the Agreement with the Government of St-Petersburg aimed at providing reliable power supply and conditioning connection of the city customers to the electric grids.
