RTS Announced Stock Market Monthly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2010. In September 2010 the RTS Index went up by 6.08% to 1,507.66 points as of September 30, 2010 against 1,421.21 points as of August 31, 2010. Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was coming from the falling prices for Sberbank ordinary shares (SBERS) (up 21.42 points), ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOHS) (up 14.49 points) followed by ordinary shares of JSC "Polymetal" (PMTL) (up 4.46 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, rose by 4.40% to reach 9,776.44 points (9,364.41 points as of August 31, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 Index went up by 11.79% to reach 1,952.39 points (1,746.41 points as of August 31, 2010). Key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a positive trend. The largest gain was demonstrated by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index growing by 20.13%. A significant increase was reported by the metallurgy and financial sector with the RTS Metals & Mining Index gaining 10.11% and the RTS Finances Index going up by 9.38%.

RTS Siberia Index gained 5.11%.

In September the US dollar depreciated by 0.85% against the Russian ruble to reach 30.40 rubles per US dollar (30.66 rubles as of August 31, 2010).

In September 2010 the securities trading volume on RTS equaled USD53,77 billion (1,656.74 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD10,014.12 million.

The top sellers of the month on the RTS Stock Market were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD 6,050.1 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD 1,819.6 million and ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) with a turnover of USD573.0 million. The share of the above securities in the turnover made up 59,33%, 17,84% and 5,62% respectively.

The top gainers of the month were ordinary shares of Pharmacy Chain 36,6 (APTK) that experienced a growth of 37.98% to reach USD 3.65, preferred shares of "Nizhhnekamskneftekhim" INC. (NKNCP) that went up by 35.67% to reach USD 0.27135 and ordinary shares of Ashinskiy metallurgical works (AMEZ) that gained 34.15% to end up at USD 0.55 per share.

The top losers of the month were ordinary shares of ОАО "PROTEK" (PRTK) that lost 42.03% to reach USD 2, preferred shares of "Krasnyj Octyabr Co." (KROTP)  that went down by 22.22% to reach USD 7 and ordinary shares of PJSC Belon (BLNG) that decreased by 8.51% to USD 0.86.
