OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2010. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated additional 60 million UAH for subsidies on sugar beet crops in the calculation of 500 UAH per 1 hectare.
This the Agrarian Policy Minister Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk announced at a briefing.
He said that sugar production is a strategic direction for Ukraine. "Our current capacity is about 5 million tons of sugar. Today, taking into consideration the dynamic growth of crops that have occurred this year, the Government's task is to prevent reduction. And not to reduce the amount of crops, we must not disappoint sugar beet and sugar manufacturers"- the Minister said.
Mykola Prisyajnyuk said today that the Government at its meeting approved a resolution to allocate additional funds in the amount of 60 million UAH to support the production of sugar beet: "That means in short terms a compensation for 1 ha of sugar beet crops in the amount of 500 UAH will be allocated, so you can prepare land and provide sugar beet crops for next year" – Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said and recalled that in early summer, the Government has allocated 170 million UAH as State support to crop production in the form of subsidizing the crops of sugar beet and flax-flax at a rate of 1 thousand UAH per 1 ha of sowing.
