OREANDA-NEWS. October 05, 2010. Currently, Russian Marine Forces perform integration of the existing navigation system RSDN-20 with new GLONASS capabilities in Arctic region in order to enhance positioning characteristics.

To achieve it, new GLONASS differential monitoring and correction stations are deployed on the shore.  

Two stations have been already commissioned, in Beloye and Barentsevo seas, with more to come soon. Today, navigation along the sea path in the region is maintained by RSDN-20, which provides 80%-global coverage with accuracy of 3-15 km. 

In order to improve the precision, it is intended to integrate the current system with the new one.
