PM of Ukraine: Agriculture to Become Engine of Economic Growth
OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2010. Opening the meeting of the Government, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has entrusted to create a comprehensive program of food self-sufficiency of Ukraine and accelerated development of agriculture. The Prime Minister gave a respective order to Vice Prime Minister Viktor Slauta and Sergiy Tigipko, Agrarian Policy Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
Mykola Azarov said that the program will provide the stabilization of prices for agricultural products, food security and creation of market infrastructure - vegetable stores, refrigerators, wholesale markets - and bulk breeding recovery.
"Construction and agriculture, according to our plan will be from 2011 engines of economic growth as they are domestically oriented and invulnerable to external conditions, the Head of the Government emphasised.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has imposed duties of general coordination of national programs - construction and agriculture - on First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev.
