RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2010. Over the week of September 20-24, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 1.67% to reach 1,488.67 points (1,464.18 points as of September 17, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS)  (plus 14.05 points) followed by ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 8.19 points) and OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL (GMKNS) (plus 3.68 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 1.17% to reach 9,755.44 points (9,642.62 points as of September 17, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 1.56% closing at 1,894.34 points (1,865.30 points as of September 17, 2010). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index adding 3.31%. A significant increase was also shown by the financial and power sectors, with the RTS Finances Index and RTS Electric Utilities Index going up by 2.39% and 0.98% respectively. Maximum decrease was shown by the telecommunication sector, with the RTS Telecom Index going down by 0.44%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 0.86%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.06% against the ruble to reach 31.00 rubles per US dollar (31.02 rubles as of September 17, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of September 20-24, 2010 equaled USD12.7 billion (394.29 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,566.16 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,641.67 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD426.7 million and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL (GMKN) with a turnover of USD158.37 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 63.05%, 16.39% and 6.08% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of Ashinskiy metallurgical works  (AMEZ) that went up by 7.68% to USD0.533 followed by ordinary shares of "IDGC of Center and Volga Region, JSC"(MRKP) – by 7.20% to USD0.00804 and ordinary shares of "Bank "Saint-Petersburg" OJSC  (STBK) – by 6.85% to reach USD3.9.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC Concern "KALINA"  (KLNA) that fell 5.26% to reach USD18, followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "Rostelecom"  (RTKM) that lost 4.66% to reach USD4.3 and preferred shares of OJSC "Rostelecom"  (RTKMP) that shed 3.97% to reach USD2.9.
