OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2010. Moldavian Airlines inaugurated a new flight Chisinau - Istanbul - Chisinau. The flight is operated to the world's fastest growing airport - Sabiha Gokcen, Moldavian Airlines being the 33rd airline to operate to this modern airport, reported the press-centre of Moldavian Airlines.

As a welcome, the Sabiha Gokcen Airport authorities, together with Moldavian Airlines and its Handling partner TGS, organized a sumptuous flight inauguration event in Istanbul. Upon landing, two fire tenders placed on both sides of the taxiways performed the “christening on land” of the new flight by splashing water jets that formed an arch above the aircraft. At the ramp, all the commercial passengers, as well as the special guests and the entire crew were greeted with flowers and Turkish delights.

A press conference with media representatives from both Moldova and Turkey was held at Sabiha Gokcen Airport hotel. The CEO of the Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Mr. Gokhan Bugday, welcomed Moldavian Airlines and expressed his support for the new flight: "We are the fastest growing airport in the world and we are happy to welcome a new partner ‘on board’".

Mr. Nicolae Petrov, the President and CEO of Moldavian Airlines, expressed his confidence in the success of the new flight, also thanks to the strong historical bonds between Turkey and Moldova. He appreciated the Turkish partners for cooperation and encouraged all the guests to visit Moldova.

The press conference was followed by a cocktail party where the guests (representatives of Moldovan and Turkish companies, travel agencies and media) enjoyed traditional Turkish food on a live music background.

Many pleasant surprises were a part of the event. They started in the departure lounge, where Mr. Efim Muravschi, the passenger who had purchased the first ticket for this first flight, received a free Moldavian Airlines round trip ticket with all the taxes included, and continued on board where the President and CEO himself greeted all passengers and informed them that they are invited to travel once to Istanbul and back at Moldavian Airlines expense, having to cover the airport taxes only. Other two guests won a voucher each valid for 2 roundtrip tickets each in a lottery extraction held immediately after the press conference.
