OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2010. Federal Agency of Marine and River Transport initiated a tender aimed at introduction of the GLONASS adjustment stations in the sea port of Petropavlovsk- Kamchatsky.

This would be the first suburban terminal in Kamchatka. Similar stations are located in the city center. 

GLONASS is introduced in the port in order to enhance sea transportation safety.

Local officials also note that this implies introduction of competitive native technologies. GLONASS will help Russia to fulfill its sea transport safety obligations on international level, mitigate ship accident risks, improve ecological environment due to high-precise navigation data.
