ROSNO Pays Over 10,4 mn Roubles for Three Stolen BMW X6 Vehicles
OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2010. In August 2010, ROSNO’s North-Western Directorate paid MOD insurance compensations of 10,473,323 roubles in total to three private clients for their stolen BMW X6 vehicles. All of the abovementioned vehicles had been insured against the risks of damage, fire, and theft, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.
In the first such a case, the owner of BMW X6, manufactured in 2010, left his vehicle at the parking lot near his house in Vyborgsky district. For two days, he did not use his vehicle which, still remained safe and sound at the parking lot. However, in the morning on the third day, the owner did not found his vehicle: the latter had been stolen though it had been equipped with both standard and additional antitheft systems. The insurance compensation paid by ROSNO equalled 3,706,853 roubles.
The second insured accident occurred in Frunzensky district of St. Petersburg. In this case, the owner of the BMW X6, also manufactured in 2010, left his vehicle at the parking lot near the house of his friends whom he was visiting. In the night, the vehicle was stolen, but its absence was discovered only next morning. IC ROSNO has paid the client an insurance compensation of 3,467,105 roubles.
The third BMW Х6, manufactured in 2009, was stolen in Central District. About 5:30 a.m., the owner left his vehicle on the roadside on Bolshaya Morskaya Street. Some 20 minutes later, the owner received an alert call from the antitheft system’s dispatcher, asking to check the vehicle’s status. Indeed, the vehicle was absent near the house where it had been left. The client was paid an insurance compensation of 3,299,365 roubles.
"According to the statistics collected by IC ROSNO for the first half of 2010, BMW Х6 became the most frequently stolen vehicle in St. Petersburg," says Ms. Xenia Stepanova, Deputy Head of the Motor Insurance Loss Settlement Division in ROSNO’s North-Western Directorate. "However, in my opinion, more attention should be paid not to the car thieves’ preferences (as the „popularity“ of particular brands and models among car thieves is varying each year), but to the overall car theft situation in St. Petersburg. Our city has always been notable for its highest quantity of stolen vehicles per one thousand residents, as compared to other RF regions. For example, in the first half of 2010, the vehicles insured with our company were stolen twice as often in St. Petersburg as compared to Moscow".
