Retail Sales of Consumer Products Increased by 8,1% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2010. Retail sales of consumer products in January-August 2010 amounted to 15 billion 650,1 million lei, increasing by 8,1% as compared to the same period of 2009. As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth of retail sales was due to increase of nonfoods sales by 10,2% - up to 10 billion 547,8 million lei and sales of foodstuffs – by 3,3% - up to 5 billion 102,3 million lei.
The growth of retail trade volume was registered at the joined ownership enterprises (with foreign capital) (+11,7%), at the private companies (+7,4%) and at the public ownership enterprises (+1,9%). At the same time, the sales at the mixed (public and private) trading companies have reduced by 11,3%.
The largest share in the total volume of retail sales fell to Chisinau – 58% and Balti - 7,9%, followed by Gagauzia - 2,9%, Cahul region – 2,1%, Orhei region – 1,9%, Edinet, Ungheni, Drochia and Soroca regions – 1,7% each.
In June 2010 the trading companies have sold goods totaling to 2 billion 10,4 million lei or by 0,2% more than in May 2010 and by 8,3% more than in June 2009. In August 2010 the retail sales of the trading companies amounted to 2 billion 303,8 million lei, increasing by 6,2% as compared to July 2010 and by 9,7% - against August 2010.
