OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2010. "We cleaned up this area in one day. You can keep it clean for years. Please, don't litter!" These signs were placed on the banks of the rivers and the lakes as part of the ecological event, ‘Life Spring’ for Living Nature.

The ‘Life Spring’ for Living Nature initiative took place in six Russian cities in August and September, organized by the ‘Life Spring’ drinking water brand, supported by the International Biodiversity Conservation Center. Over 420 volunteers took part in the events and cleaned the banks of reservoirs in Moscow, Yaroslavl, Voronezh, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, and Samara. Around 120 cubic metres of litter, left behind by summer revellers, were collected and disposed of.

These makeshift dumps on the banks of city water features cause serious ecological damage, polluting the water supply. ‘Life Spring’ is pure drinking water, extracted from an 80-meter-deep artesian well in Yaroslavl. Baltika, the producer of ‘Life Spring’, aims for their water to provide health and happiness; therefore, the company actively participates in the protection of the environment and urges everyone to take an active part in cleaning up their surroundings.

Outstanding Russian actress, Anna Bolshova, threw her support behind every stage of the ‘Life Spring’ initiative.

Volunteers taking part in the ‘Life Spring’ initiative included representatives of city committees and government, heads of regional administrations, local citizens, and members of social organizations.

Organizers would like to express their thanks to all participants and urge them to join in the ‘Life Spring’ for Living Nature event next year.
