RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2010. Over the week of September 13-17, 2010, the RTS Index went down by 1.54% to reach 1,464.18 points (1,487.09 points as of September 10, 2010). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 5.80 points),  followed by ordinary shares of Surgutneftegas (SNGSS)  (down 3.55 points) and Sberbank (SBERSS) (down 3.30 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 1.71% to reach 9,642.62 points (9,810.78 points as of September 10, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 1.07% closing at 1,865.30 points (1,845.51 points as of September 10, 2010). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian Stock Market experienced negative dynamic. The largest decline was reported by the metallurgy, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index shedding 2.47%. Considerable decline was demonstrated by oil & gas sector with the RTS Oil & Gas Index losing 1.41%. The largest growth was reported by the telecommunication sector, with the RTS Telecom Index adding 3.85%. 

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 1.60%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.45% against the ruble to reach 31.02 rubles per US dollar (30.88 rubles as of September 10, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of September 13-17, 2010 equaled USD11,8 billion (364,71 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,428.96 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,480.04 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (OGKD) with a turnover of USD437.1 million and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) with a turnover of USD113.85 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 59.92%, 17.70% and 4.61% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OJSC "Rostelecom"   (RTKM) that went up by 14.18% to USD4.51 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-4"  (OGKD) – by 12.44% to USD0.0895 and ordinary shares of OJSC "Magnit"  (MGNT) – by 9.45% to reach USD110.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC "PROTEK" (PRTK) that fell 24.56% to reach USD2.12 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "Pharmacy Chain 36.6"  (APTK) that lost 9.21% to reach USD3.45 and preferred shares of OJSC "Rostelecom"  (RTKMP) that shed 8.48% to reach USD3.02.
