Cargo Transit through Azerbaijan Grew by 50.4%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2010. For Jan-Aug 2010 cargo transit through Azerbaijan totaled 6.418 million tons versus 6.68 million tons in 2009, 6.595 million tons in 2008 and 5.99 million tons in 2007.
The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that over Jan-Aug of the year the major portion of transit goods was sent to the Bermuda Islands (2.318 million tons), Italy (1.198 million tons), Switzerland (1.136 million tons), Iran (350,700 tons), Georgia (330,300 tons), Tajikistan (283,500 tons), Afghanistan (257,300 tons), Russia (131,100 tons), Turkmenistan (127,100 tons) and Turkey (94,400 tons).
Cargo transit over the reported term made up 150.37%, with rise of 2.116 million tons against the Jan-Aug 2009 index.
As a whole, for Jan-Aug 2010 in the course of export and import operations it was transported 29.56 million tons of cargo (107.5% versus Jan-Aug 2010), including 24.936 million tons of export and 4.626 million tons of import.
Export by sea made up 222,700 tons, by rail 2.25 million tons, by road 362,500 tons, by air 194,800 tons, and via pipelines 21.9 million tons.
Import included 3.17 million tons by rail, 1.007 million tons by road, 416,100 tons by sea, and 13,600 tons by air.
In addition, during temporary regime the country exported goods for USD 257.7 million and imported to the sum of USD 256.38 million.
