FAS Suspects Salt Producers Are Engaged in Anticompetitive Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2010. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against “Mozyrsol” OJSC, “BPK” Ltd., “Predpriyatie MS” CJSC, “TDS” CJSC, “Grouppa Upak” OJSC, “Grocery” Ltd., “Evrotrust Expo” Ltd., “Guildia+” Ltd., “SevzapRegionSol SPb” and “Evroservice Plus” Ltd. for the elements of violating Clauses 3 and 6 Part 1 Article 11 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The case was initiated as part of antimonopoly control of socially important food products and upon a complaint of the Moscow Government’s Department for Food Resources of the Moscow City.
FAS Russia suspects violations of the antimonopoly law as participants of a meeting on distribution of salt in the Russian markets (“Mozyrsol” OJSC, “BPK” Ltd., “Predpriyatie MS” CJSC, “TDS” CJSC, “Grouppa Upak” OJSC, “Grocery” Ltd., “Evrotrust Expo” Ltd., “Guildia+” Ltd., “SevzapRegionSol SPb” and “Evroservice Plus” Ltd.) reached an agreement for distribution conditions of salt produced by “Mozyrsol” OJSC, which are included in the Protocol of the meeting for distribution of salt in the Russian market.
According to the Protocol, participants decided to divide the main consumers according to the salt range and quantity to prevent competition between the goods of the same origin. To exclude unjustified increase of ex-works prices for the products of “Mozyrsol” OJSC for end consumers, “BPK” Ltd. was allowed to conclude direct contracts with other counteragents under certain conditions.
“The market of edible salt is socially important. All antimonopoly violation in this sphere will be promptly eliminated”, said the Head of the FAS Russia’s Department for Control over Chemical Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex, Teimuraz Kharitonashvili.
