OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2010. Freight One increased its haulage during the first eight months of 2010 to 193.8 million metric metric tons, which is 30% more than the same period of the last year.

The figure includes 63.8 mmt of coal (+34.3%), 49.9 mmt of oil freight (+18.6%), 16.5 mmt of ore (+20.8%), 12.4 mmt of ferrous metals (+123.0%), 6.0 mmt of timber freight (+20.0%), 10.1 mmt of construction materials (-2.2%), 4.3 mmt of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+32.4%), 10.5 mmt of cement (+36.4%), 2.8 mmt of coke (+ 202.1%) and 17.5 mmt of other freight.

The company’s share in the total haulage on the Russian Railways (RZD) network was 22.0%, an increase of 3.6 percentage points over the same period of last year.

The company hauled 27.0 mmt of freight in August, an increase of 4.1% over July.

Freight One is Russia’s largest rail transport operator. The main founder and largest holder of ordinary shares in the company is Russian Railways (RZD) OJSC. The company was established in July 2007 and began to independently manage its car fleet in November of that year.

The company currently owns over 200,000 cars of various types and accounts for 22% of Russia’s rolling stock. In 2009 it hauled 231.8 mmt of freight.
