TNK-BP Started Sales of New Fuel
OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2010. TNK-BP announced the start of sales of a new gasoline, TNK Pulsar with octane number 95, at TNK retail sites in Saint-Petersburg, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.
TNK Pulsar 95 fuel that was developed by TNK-BP specialists using innovative technology has high environmental characteristics and conforms to Euro-4 standard. TNK Pulsar is currently produced by Ryazan Oil Refinery Company, which is a member of the TNK-BP Group. Other company refineries are planned to start producing this fuel in the future.
TNK Pulsar gasoline was tested by independent German and Russian centers using Mercedes, Hyundai and VAZ-11113 engines. The tests made in injector and carburetor engines demonstrated that TNK Pulsar motor gasoline has better detergent properties than ordinary fuel.
In particular, TNK Pulsar 95 reduces inlet valve depositions by up to 34 times, decreases carburetor soiling by more than 11% on average, and has 2.4 times lower corrosiveness than ordinary A-95 fuel. This provides longer car mileage without untuning, lower content of carbon monoxide in exhaust gases, and better fuel efficiency.TNK Pulsar 95 contains three times less sulfur and five times less benzene on average. The development of a new fuel with such environmental characteristics supports Company efforts to improve the environmental conditions.
TNK Pulsar 95 sales started in October 2009 in Moscow and the Moscow region. About 35% of all buyers of gasoline with octane number 95 currently prefer TNK Pulsar at each retail site. The new regions of TNK Pulsar sales are Rostov and the Rostov region where the new fuel is sold at 42 TNK retail sites, Tula and the Tula region (23 retail sites), and the Krasnodar region (27 retail sites).
‘TNK-BP is consistent in implementing its program aimed to increase supply of quality fuels that conform to environmental standards and requirements of the technical regulation. According to the program, the company will invest USD1.3 bln in refinery upgrades by 2015. – said Amir Feizulin, TNK-BP Vice President, Marketing. – We intend to become retail market leaders in supply of new generation motor fuels that are environment friendly and most attractive for the customers using innovative technology and solutions for that purpose’.
