Ukraine Implements UN Convention against Corruption
OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2010. The plenipotentiary on anti-corruption policy Andrei Bogdan held the conference on implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption.
The conference was attended by government experts from Slovakia, Poland and representatives of the Office of the UN's corruption and economic crimes. From Ukrainian side the conference was attended by Bureau of anticorruption policy Director Ruslan Ryaboshapko.
"According to the implementation assessing mechanism of the UN Convention, each country member of the treaty will pass an audit initiated by a joint inaugural conference. Thus, by the end of the year Ukraine will pass the monitoring procedure of implementation of the Convention. The monitoring will be held by experts from Poland and Slovenia, and Ukrainian experts in their turn will hold evaluation in Chile" - the Government plenipotentiary said.
In 2006, Ukraine ratified the UN Convention against Corruption, signed on behalf of Ukraine December 11, 2003. The Convention will come into force together with the Law of Ukraine dated June 22, 2009 № 1508-VI "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine on liability for corruption law break" dated January 1, 2011. Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine - Government commissioner for anti-corruption policy Andriy Bogdan was appointed responsible for the monitoring during the first year cycle for country members of the UN Convention against Corruption in Ukraine.
