Sakhalin Energy Produced 100 LNG Cargoes
OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2010. Sakhalin Energy produced the 100th LNG cargo at Prigorodnoye production complex starting from January 2010. Each produced cargo is defined as 145 000 m., reported the press-centre of Sakhalin Energy.
The Sakhalin-2 LNG plant was launched in February 2009. In less than 1.5 years of operation and production, the first Russian LNG plant has reached its full design capacity, producing 9,6 mln tones of LNG per year, which makes about 5% of the world LNG output.
The start up of the plant opened up world markets to the Russian LNG in Asia and America and made Sakhalin Island an energy center of Asia-Pacific.
The major destination for Sakhalin LNG was Japan. Among other destinations: South Korea, India, Kuwait, China and Taiwan.
Sakhalin-2 LNG is transported to customers by LNG tankers chartered by the Company under the long-term charter contracts or by ships provided by the Sakhalin LNG buyers.
