OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2010. Ukrainian government took responsibility to establish common tariffs in the housing, to develop the necessary technique. This was stated by the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at a press conference in Simferopol.

"The unified fares are to stimulate competition in the industry, encourage reform and investment" - he said.

The Head of the Government said that now the National Electricity Regulatory Commission of Ukraine is in charge of the validity of already established rates.

"Previously, each region was setting the tariffs by itself, at this the purely populist rates were underestimated, and sometimes unnecessarily inflated. We have to solve that matter. If the state assumed responsibility for establishing uniform rates, it is necessary to develop necessary methods and to implement them using this basis" - the Prime Minister said.

According to the Head of the Ukrainian government, now "housing and utilities are brought to collapse". In the country tens of thousands of elevators in tall buildings are not in operation. "Imagine how pensioners should reach the 9-10 floor. They begin to abuse power, but they have to not abuse the power, which we had changed every two years, they should think about the system that would allow housing to work safely and ensure people with normal services" - Mykola Azarov said.

"For us the main thing is to build a system in which each direction will work steadily, steadily and with the prospect of development" - he said.
